Public donations to help Nepal now over 165 million baht
Donations to help earthquake victims in Nepal from the public under the government's campaign now is over 165 million baht.The money was donated by the public through the Thai government’s official account in Krung Thai bank named “Send Thai Hearts to Nepal”.By yesterday donation stood at 165,876,528 baht, said Prime Minister’s Office permanent secretary M.L. Panadda Diskul on Monday.The permanent secretary had a meeting at the Government House with authorities and agencies handling monetary donations for Nepal to ensure that those sums were managed with transparency and efficiency.He said he was confirmed by all of the campaigners that the acceptance of money was conducted with transparency while assuring Thai people that every baht of their donations would reach the Nepalese government and the United Nations.Since the Thai government opened the official account: “Send Thai Hearts to Nepal”, a total of 165,876,528 baht has been transferred into the account, he said.He said that everything the government has received will be divided into four parts, with three of them to be sent through the United Nations and the remaining part to be flown directly to Nepal.Meanwhile, the Health Ministry reported that while international medical teams have started to withdraw from disaster-hit Nepal, Thai medical personnel will continue running two field hospitals while the country is in the rehabilitation stage.
